Conscious Engineering by Ashton Stoop

A few weeks ago we hosted an 'Innovation day' at HAAB Project. It was a day full of thought-provoking talks and discussions on the subject of innovation.

As the title suggests, Ashton's theme is "Conscious Engineering." But what does that mean? Essentially, conscious engineering is about designing and building technology and systems with a focus on ethics and social responsibility. It's about considering the impact of our work on people, society, and the environment, and striving to create positive change.

Ashton is the founder of Adapt Labs and an expert in conscious engineering. Ashton is discussing the importance of Ikigai in his own journey. Ikigai is a Japanese concept that refers to one's sense of purpose or meaning in life. Ikigai is often depicted as the intersection of four circles: what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. Finding one's ikigai is thought to involve discovering what one is passionate about and what brings them joy, as well as finding a way to use their skills and talents to make a positive contribution to the world and to be financially rewarded for their efforts.
